If you’re not happy with the response to your complaint from Social Security Scotland
If you’re not happy with how Social Security Scotland responded to your complaint, you can make a complaint to the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO). They're an independent organisation that look into complaints.
You can ask the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman to look at your complaint if:
- you have gone through the full complaints process with Social Security Scotland and received a letter with their decision
- it’s less than 12 months after you became aware of the issue you want to complain about
- the issue has not been to court
The Scottish Public Services Ombudsman will ask you to:
- send a copy of Social Security Scotland’s final response to your complaint
- complete a complaint form
